Our Indonesian material comes from small operations across the archipelago. Our main source is in West Java, supported by operations in Tasikmalaya, Sukabumi, and Banten, with additional material from Sumatra and Sulawesi. The volcanic geology of Java produces silicified wood and palm root found almost nowhere else, while the older marine sediments of the outer islands yield fossil material of a different kind entirely. These deposits have supplied collectors and working lapidaries for generations.

We buy directly from the operations in these areas rather than through exporters, which is what keeps the pricing where it is. Every lot is filmed before it ships.
