Diamantina Quartz Clusters — Lot A

1.888 kg, 6 pieces. $110/kg. Quartz clusters from the Diamantina operation in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

These are white and clear rather than smoky — bright, snow-white bodies with water-clear terminations that go glassy and transparent at the tips. Growth runs upright and blade-like across the lot: tall tapering points standing well proud of the base, with fields of smaller crystals crowded around their footings and running down the sides. Several pieces show heavy horizontal striations along the prism faces, and a few of the slender points are nearly needle-thin and fully transparent along their length.

Faces range from frosted and matte through to polished and reflective on the clearer terminations. Small pockets and recesses in the bases hold clusters of tiny secondary points and a little dark mineral matter left as found. One piece carries a faint warm iron staining in the recesses; the rest are clean white.

Natural and untreated — no dyeing, coating, or stabilizing, as with everything we carry.
